Morality has obviously faded in the society. It came with a detrimental side-effect – the acts, desires, and the way of living goes gradually unethical.

           The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) conducted a survey in the latter months of 2011 and found out that 23% or approximately five million Filipino adolescents aged 15-24 are already engaged in premarital sex, a disadvantageous activity to teenage years. What’s even worse is that this bad deeds lead to an increase in the incidences of sexually transmitted disease (STDs) and unplanned pregnancies that still lead to abortion, another connecting and crucial issue the country has been arguing about RH Bill until now.         

Assessing the malpractice in the form of abortion, it is disgusting to know that there are 64,000 cases annually according to the World Bank in 2010. Generally, they kill the baby for because they can’t afford to make a living, the fact that they are still young and hence, still non-eligible for real jobs.

As quoted by Isa Morfori, brand manager for leading condom brand Durex, “The burden is on young woman who have to face social stigmas that can have harmful psychological and social impact. Educating the young on pressing issues on sexual health is imperative. ” Truly, we must get to the root point of this dilemma. The question now is not “where is morality then?” rather, ”How do we solve this?”

The problem with our generation today is they are too adventurous in answering the questions of their curious minds that chiefly, they will only realize such act is wrong if they are already subjected into it. Consequently, they need to be literate enough concerning the practical life.  They need to possess the discipline which could teach them that in every action, there is consequence.

In order to avoid unplanned shortcomings, one must keep in mind the risk he will be taking, the effect he might be suffering, and the life he will be changing. Educating the youth today won’t be easy. But what’s important is, if not the sure way, atleast it would be one of the major contributors in straightening the minds of the youth.
